| The
Hawking Centre is a bird of prey education and conservation
centre, within the picturesque grounds of Leeds Castle
near Maidstone.
Birds are on view to the public (weather permitting)
seven days a week year round, and also in the public
free-flying demonstrations, given twice a day at 1.30pm and 3.30pm 1st April to 30th September, and weekends only 1.30pm 1st October to 31st March. Set to music, the demonstrations feature
a variety of birds from Hawks, Owls, Eagles, and Falcons
to a Red Kite and soaring Vultures! With an entertaining
and informative theme, the demonstrations are also
geared to involve children, whilst showing everyone
how these
wonderful birds live in the wild, and what we can do
to help conserve and protect them.
The Hawking Centre also runs full and half day Falconry
Insight Days for adults and children, which make great
gifts with an unusual theme! With plenty of hands-on
flying of a wide range of birds of prey, the experience
is unforgettable.
