Falconry Courses - Children's Falconry Fun Days

An original and brilliant gift surprise!

Children aged 8 - 11 years can have a fantastic opportunity to spend hands on time with birds of prey, in our new Falconry Fun Days, designed both to educate and to entertain, run by expert Falconer Mark Brattle and a special flying session with Childrens ITV’s ‘Wildworld’ TV presenters Leigh and Jo Holmes.

The Day begins at 10am. A VIP tour of the birds is followed by short tuition on handling the birds, and their care and maintenance, giving an idea of how we care for them. Then it's straight on to wearing a Falconry glove and flying birds of prey for real! There is plenty of bird flying and handling through the day, including Owls, Hawks and Vultures, giving a real insight into their instincts and behaviour in the wild.

After a packed lunch (provided), the afternoon brings more flying and fun, including a quick quiz (everyone has a prize!), and owl pellet dissecting. The day ends at 4pm with your children going home with a goody bag and a head full of wonderful memories!

Each child receives a birds of prey book and badge to take home with them at the end of the day. Young people aged 12 to 14 years are welcome on our Falconry Insight Full and Half Days, and need to be accompanied by an adult spectator.

Young people aged 15 plus do not need a spectator to accompany them.

Children's Falconry Fun Days are run during Half Term and School Holidays weekdays only, with a maximum of 10 children participating on any one day. All Hawking Centre staff are Kent Police CRB checked.
